The students were blessed to go to the Philadelphia Museum of Art today and loved it! They ran up the steps like Rocky Balboa did in the Rocky movies and took in a lot of great art.the Philadelphia Museum of Art
Miss Mary Griffin who is the founder and leader of A Caring Place" ministry shared the story of how the ministry came about in a powerful time of testimony last night! The students had a wonderful time of fellowship with some of the drop in kids and with Miss Mary Griffin the leader of "a caring place".
The leaders for the mission trip from left to right Justin Adkins, Jeanie Cox, Bobbyjon Bauman , Mary Griffin, Janice Whitaker, and Rich Gibbs from cutting edge ministries. The students cooked an Italian meal of spaghetti and garlic bread last evening
The students purchased Italian ice from The Caring Place kids today We believe that we find adventure when we perceive God working among us and become a part of His mission. The adventure is a result of the mission. We love the adventure, but it was never the goal. Living out our mission and serving others always comes first.
Who said a hunger for the things of God among youth is dead...a planned one hour teaching time turned into a two and a half hour session of dialogue and Q&A as the students asked questions about...what is the destiny of those who don't hear the gospel? what is marriage? Can people really ever change? Are there differ kinds of atheists? Are drugs ever "good" to use? How can I share my faith in today's culture?...and much more! I experienced tonight what I have longed to see in our society in general which has been lacking...honest (charitable) civil discourse and the exchange of ideas in a way that respects people as individuals. It gives me hope for the future! One young girl commented "I really like this in that we are able to exchange ideas and share our thoughts and have a conversation about these things...this is great! God is good!
Most of the students had never been to Dunkin Donuts until today. They loved it! They had a great time of fellowship as well after a busy day of work today!
We had some van trouble on the way to Allentown PA and guess who showed up as he was passing by us and assisted us as we were able to secure another vehicle for the trip...Steve Forte of the Fishers Council! The body of Christ in action! Thank you Steve!
God in His providence is definitely looking out for us! Not only did Steve Forte take me to the airport to rent another van (after the one we were using broke down) but Ashley Steele opened up her home (which was 10 minutes away ) to all our students to stay there while we were getting the vehicle situation resolved. She provided them with Klondike bars and drinks. So what started out as a difficult situation became to the students "an awesome side trip". Also a church member and loaned us their Tahoe for the week as well! God is good! God bless networking as this is how it works <3 We had a "commissioning" of (most of) our mission team this morning at Starkdale Presbyterian Church and the elders, family members and friends came forward and prayed over the group. We will be leaving early this evening for the Philadelphia/Allentown area and will be there until next Saturday. Please keep us in your prayers!
